The Seaboard story

Not newcomers to the island. Another generation invested in it.

Jonathan first began visiting Boca Grande in 1985. By the early 1990s, his family had made the island their weekend home, and his childhood was shaped by its water, backcountry, and close-knit community.

Seaboard Engineering and Construction was incorporated in 2013, and Jonathan committed to running the company full-time in 2015 after years managing complex commercial and institutional construction around the country. Today, Seaboard combines that disciplined technical background with the personal attention of a family business rooted in Boca Grande.

Jonathan Burdette

Jonathan is a Florida Certified General Contractor and Professional Engineer with a civil engineering degree from Auburn University. His background spans project management, quality control, land development, structural coordination, permitting, and field leadership on complex projects.

At Seaboard, he leads scope development, construction planning, permitting, subcontractor coordination, field supervision, and client communication. His strength is translating difficult conditions into practical decisions that protect quality, time, and value.

Marybeth Burdette

Marybeth earned her bachelor’s degree in interior design from The Art Institute of Philadelphia in 2008. She guides space planning, finishes, cabinetry, furniture, lighting, textiles, artwork, accessories, and final-room installation.

Because she works alongside the construction team, her selections are grounded in real dimensions, installation needs, schedules, and budgets. Her direct relationships with furniture, lighting, textile, rug, and cabinet lines help clients create a complete home through one coordinated process.

After Hurricane Ian

Showing up for the island.

Hurricane Ian damaged the Burdettes’ own home, their family’s home, and many homes belonging to past clients. Seaboard rapidly expanded its field effort to help restore northern Boca Grande, coordinating a workforce of nearly 70 people at its peak.

Keeping that recovery effort moving required more than construction. Jonathan traveled across Florida for food, water, and materials, and the company provided daily meals and supplies for its workforce while serving damaged island homes.
